After waiting all offseason, the Dallas Cowboys finally did what they should’ve done from the start. They gave CeeDee Lamb a big extension, making him one of the highest-paid wide receivers in the NFL.
There’s still more work to be done.
The Cowboys still have other extensions to handle and their offseason moves weren’t stellar, but locking in Lamb was crucial. Jerry Jones deserves some credit for this, even if it was overdue.
Now, everything’s good with Lamb’s contract, but signing him late had a downside. While waiting for the deal, Lamb held out and missed all preseason games and training camp.
Despite these setbacks, Lamb feels ready to compete. Or at least he thinks so.
CeeDee Lamb sounds like his fanbase setting unrealistic expectations for season ahead
“Quite honestly, I don’t think it’s going to be a step behind at all,” said Lamb, who agreed to terms on a four-year, $136 million extension. “I’m ready, I’m prepared for these moments, I’ve played this game my whole life,” Lamb said.
Confidence is key. Despite missing time, Lamb believes he won’t fall behind. He’s eager and thinks he’s well-prepared to play his beloved game.
If true, this could be impressive. Preseason games might not matter much for stars like Lamb, but training camp is vital for team chemistry and game readiness. Lamb’s confidence is high on both fronts, but only time will tell.
“Got some body armor on me, got a little more body armor, I can take a couple more hits,” he said. “I’m prepared for my opportunities.”
All Cowboys fans can do is hope Lamb is ready for the tough NFL season ahead. His talent is clear; catching passes isn’t an issue. But durability and consistent performance are things to watch after missing training camp.
