In 1977, All My Children‘s Donna Beck (Candice Earley) and Chuck Tyler (Richard Van Vleet) were wed by a justice of the peace. Their road to the altar had not been a smooth one, thanks in part to his overbearing grandmother, Phoebe Tyler Wallingford, who did not consider Donna — a former sex worker — to be good enough for Chuck. To that end, Phoebe had tried to bribe Donna into leaving town with a wad of cash, which Donna threw back in her face. The couple also had to overcome the machinations of Donna’s former pimp, Billy Clyde Tuggle, who drugged Donna to force her back into sex work.
