William Shatner and on-again wife Elizabeth were the picture of bliss on the red carpet recently as sources detail how they’re happier than ever and counting their blessings heading into 2025.
“They reconnected over quarantine and so happy they did,” an insider exclusively tells Closer of the rekindled couple. “Whatever issues they had either disappeared or were resolved, and William has vowed to never be bull-headed and let her go again. He’s like a kitten around her.”
“They’re quite low-key and appreciate time spent together,” the source adds. “She’s so good for him and keeps him grounded, calm and healthy and he’s her soulmate, too. She makes him laugh with her silly jokes.”
In October, William, 93, and Elizabeth stepped out together at Cirque du Soleil in Santa Monica.
“It’s a big deal to see them stepping out in public but they want the world to know they’re very much together and very happy,” the insider says. “They have a lot to look forward to in 2025.”
William filed for divorce from Elizabeth in 2019. They settled their divorce in March 2020. In a June 2020 interview with The Mirror, William was asked how he was affected by his divorce. “Nothing makes me sad at this age,” he confessed.
He also shared what it was like to be back on the market again.
“A heartthrob at 89,” he playfully said. “How does it feel to be a heartthrob at 89? Well … it heightens my blood pressure!”
But in March 2024, the Star Trek actor confirmed that he and Elizabeth were back together.
“My little secret is I’m living with my former wife,” he told Parade at the time.
“We’ve in effect remarried. But we haven’t done another ceremony,” William added.
However, when he was asked about whether or not the pair would consider having another wedding, William shot the idea down.
“I don’t think so, for a number of reasons,” he said. “The reasons we divorced were many, but none of them had to do with distaste. It had to do with more practical things that I want to avoid happening [again], so that’s what I did.”
While he admittedly went through some hardships during his relationship with Elizabeth the first time around, William never lost faith in love.
“I’ve often heard about married couples being partners in life and I think that’s what Elizabeth and I have achieved,” the Emmy winner said. “I think we’re partners. We help each other with our lives.”
William revealed that now, he and his family are closer than ever after he got back together with Elizabeth.
“We eat [together] frequently,” he said of spending time with his three kids from his first marriage and grandkids. “Most every week we have a day, a Sunday night, when the family gets together. Then there are birthdays.”
Luckily for him, most of his family members live pretty close by.
“The 15 people who are in my immediate family — about 10 of them are within a couple of miles of my house,” he revealed. “The other five are [only] 25, 30 miles away.”
