Bold and Beautiful star Christian Weissmann has been crafting his villainous stalker character, Remy, since his first appearance on the CBS soap back on November 8. Remy comes off as a dear old friend of Electra’s but in fact, he is obsessed with the gorgeous young Forrester ingenue. In a new interview with TV Insider, the actor explains that his character is complex and not simply “crazy and… obsessive.”
A Deeper Perspective
Weissmann explained to the site, “As an actor, I feel I had to go from a more empathetic point of view to really connect with Remy.” It’s that exploration that will go a long way from making what could have been a cardboard-cutout villain into someone who will intrigue the viewers.
“He’s someone who has been neglected and isolated,” he went on to explain, “and a large part of his life has never really seen by his family or his friends, so when he has these impulsive moments of lashing out or doing bad things, he is just a hurt kid deep down and he doesn’t know how to place his emotions.”
Unfortunately for Electra, she has been the lightning rod for his lashing out. He cares for her deeply but can see that she’s growing closer to another man. That man is Will Spencer, heir to the Spencer Publishing empire. Will’s dad, Bill Spencer, has shown he will go all out to woo or keep the woman he loves and Will has obviously observed that over the years. Whether Remy understands that or not, he has been put on notice by Will that if anything upsets Electra, he will have to answer to him. As retaliation, Remy released a deep fake of Electra that cost her her job at Forrester Creations.
Off screen, the young actor has a great relationship with his two on-screen partners. He loves working with Laneya Grace, who plays Electra and he told the site they bonded quickly. As for his on-screen rival, he feels much the same way. “Crew [Morrow, Will Spencer] is such an awesome guy. We have so much fun facing off in the show and it’s cool to play that, which is so separate from our friendship off-camera.”
The actor was very excited to land this complicated character, having tried out for several other roles over the years and told the site that his mother and grandmother were big fans of the soaps and he always hoped to land a job on one. When he did, it was a “very special day for me.”
