Hoda Kotb and Joel Schiffman’s split shocked fans in 2022, but many have wondered if they would ever rekindle their romance.
“As far as a reconciliation goes, which everyone is hoping for, I just don’t think that’s in the cards for them,” an insider exclusively tells Closer. “Never say never, but they’re both set in their ways and happy with the way things are.”
Since their split, Joel has been seen in rare photos posted on Hoda’s Instagram account while the former couple have spent time with their two kids, Haley and Hope. The financier attended a Christmas Day celebration at Hoda’s new suburban house on Wednesday, December 25, and posed for pictures with his ex-fiancée and the children.
Since their January 2022 breakup, Hoda, 60, has made it clear that she is looking for love in this new phase of her life and is hoping the right guy comes along.
“I think, when I look in my crystal ball or at my tea leaves way down the road, I do see that,” she told People in October of her quest for love.
“I picture that — a great love down the road. And I see it,” the NBC personality continued.
But Hoda made it clear that she is not rushing her journey to finding Mr. Right.
“A friend asked me, ‘What do you have room for?’ Which is a very important question to ask yourself when you’re looking for whatever it is. She goes, ‘Truthfully, if you could have anything, what would you have space for?’ And I said, ‘I have space for a Thursday night date.’ She says, ‘Then that’s what you should look for.’ In other words, don’t seek out,” Hoda said.
Hoda’s schedule will be freeing up a bit more when she marks her final episode of Today on January 10. The Hope Is a Rainbow author revealed that her decision to leave the long-running talk show was made so she could spend more time with her daughters.
A source told Closer in October that having a more relaxed schedule would allow Hoda more time to step out onto the dating scene and explore her options.
“This new schedule will enable Hoda to get out there and breathe, relax, then hopefully connect with that special someone at long last,” the source said. “It’s her firm belief that if she’d stayed on Today this wouldn’t have been possible.”
As for what she is looking for in a future partner, a separate source told Closer in October that Hoda does “love the idea of a country guy.”
“She’s done with these city types,” the source said. “Hoda’s had some rotten luck with men in the big city.”
“She’d date a farmer at this point if he has a good heart, good values and treats her right,” the source added. “She’s looking for someone old-fashioned who opens doors for her and says, ‘Yes, ma’am.’ Of course, it helps if he’s good with money and saves more than he spends.”
