All My Children alum Colin Egglesfield revealed in January 2025 that he had been diagnosed with cancer for the third time. The soap opera star underwent surgery and maintained a positive attitude, sharing updates with fans as he continued along his journey.
What Type of Cancer Does Colin Egglesfield Have?
Colin announced via Instagram on January 20, 2025, that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer, sharing photos taken outside of a cancer center and before and after his surgery.
“The beginning to this year hasn’t been the easiest, but in the spirit of what I said in my interview, this is another opportunity to decide who I choose to be in the face of uncertainty and challenges in my most recent cancer diagnosis,” he wrote after sharing an inspirational quote. “Thankfully, we caught my prostate cancer early and after a year of doing a lot of research and talking to quite a few healthcare professionals, I elected to be proactive and have surgery.”
Colin continued, “I’m so grateful for the amazing support and care I’ve received over the past few months from @cityofhopephx, Dr. Gellhaus and all the nurses, other doctors, and staff that have been instrumental in supporting me through this scary time.”
“Hopefully this is a reminder to everyone that you’re not alone with whatever you’re facing and that it’s important to advocate for yourself and your health which includes checkups, seeking information and asking for help when you need it!” he added.
Colin also thanked his fans for their support and revealed that he is “getting healthier and stronger” every day.
“I’m still a bit sore but I’m making progress and am determined to come back stronger and healthier than ever especially with the help of my sexy walker,” he concluded. “It all starts with a decision to commit to what you decide to be with whatever you’re facing. I decide to be RESILIENCE, FAITH, COURAGE, GRACE and INSPIRATION. What do you choose to be?”
Colin Egglesfield Shares Updates on His Cancer Journey
The Rizzoli & Isles alum continued to keep fans updated nearly every day after he revealed his cancer diagnosis. In a follow-up video post on January 22, 2025, Colin revealed that he was “in the hospital for just a couple days, had my surgery, and from what the doctor said, he says surgery went really well.”
Colin added that he was “still a little sore” but “walking around gingerly.”
The Must Love Dogs actor returned to Instagram on January 23, 2025, to reveal that he had his “first check-up post-surgery.”
“Things are on track and I’m feeling positive large part due to the amazing peeps at @cityofhope hospital and their amazing @cityofhopecancerfighters team,” he continued.
Colin then admitted that he has struggled with changes in his emotions and attitude toward his diagnosis, noting, “I go through these phases where I’m feeling good and then other phases where this is all so overwhelming. It’s hard to describe this feeling which is a combination of gratitude, fear, hope, frustration, anger, and folly.”
He continued, “Some moments I feel like it’s all good and I’m able to move forward and others I’m halted and unable to understand what is going on and how I’m supposed to integrate new realities into my life. What’s helped is slowing down and finding space to voice what’s really swirling in the background of all of this without comment of it or trying to fix it. Just letting it out and let it be what it is.”
Colin later explained that he has to remember that “it’s OK to feel what I’m feeling and to let it be, knowing that this is part of the healing and that without it, healing can be stunted.”
Did Colin Egglesfield Have Testicular Cancer?
Colin was previously diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2006. Though he underwent surgery to remove the tumor, he found out one year later that the cancer had returned in his other testicle. He underwent treatment and became cancer-free once again, discussing his illness in a rare interview in 2019.
“It’s not something that men normally like to talk about, and for the longest time, I didn’t want to talk about it because it’s something very personal,” he told Fox News at the time. “I just noticed that my left testicle had swelled up, and I went to see the doctor and he said that we needed to do some tests, ultrasound, a blood test. And they discovered that it was at a pretty advanced stage, and did the surgery and found that some of the cancer cells had gone through the veins and arteries to the kidneys.”
