Telugu film producer Sunkara Krishna Prasad Chowdary also known as KP Chowdary has allegedly died by suicide on Monday. This happened at his rented house in Goa. The North Goa Superintendent of Police Akshat Kaushal said that the Siolim police outpost received the information about the 44 year old committing suicide. The police have said that the reason behind his suicide is being investigated and inquest proceedings have been initiated.
The police send out a statement about this case recently. The statement read, “Preliminary information suggests that Chowdary had been living alone in the flat for the past six to seven months. According to initial statements, his friends became concerned when he failed to respond to phone calls and messages this morning. They subsequently contacted the flat owner, who found Chowdary hanging and immediately informed the police.”
However, not many know about KP Chowdary. He is a native of Bonakal in Khammam district. He graduated with B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering and has worked as the director of operations at the Indian Institute of Aeronautical Engineering and Technology in Pune.
In 2016, he turned a film producer with the film, Kabali. He also got the distribution rights to two Telugu movies, Sardar Gabbar Singh and Seetamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu. The police have found out that during his time as a producer, he met celebrities and later moved to Goa and started a club.
In June 2023, the Hyderabad police had arrested him on allegations of peddling drugs. The police had shared that that KP Chowdary suffered losses in his business and procured 100 sachets of cocaine from a Nigerian drug peddler. The police had seized 90 sachets of cocaine weighing 82.75 gms, Rs 2.05 lakh cash, his Mercedes and mobile phones, all worth Rs 78.5 lakh. A chargesheet was filed in the court but the trial was yet to begin.
