Lady Gaga is embracing the chaos with a new haircut ahead of her upcoming album, Mayhem. The singer showed off an edgy bob while signing autographs for fans in New York City on Wednesday, March 5. Gaga’s new ‘do featured blunt bangs and a face-framing silhouette that was curled under, creating a bouncy look. She paired the chop, which was colored jet black, with a black hat, a checkered coat dress that featured a cool frayed hem, and matching boots.
Gaga’s makeover comes after she showed off an equally edgy look at the 2025 Grammys a few weeks ago. For music’s biggest night, she rocked the jellyfish, which is categorized by cropped hair on top and long layers underneath. The style exuded goth glam vibes and was perfectly complemented by a Samuel Lewis ensemble that was equipped with a leather corset and a billowing ruched skirt.

Gaga has been leaning into a witchy and wacky aesthetic while promoting and preparing for Mayhem’s launch. In October 2024, she released the music video for the record’s single “Disease,” which saw her channel the underworld. The visual was met with praise, with one fan in particular gushing, “She’s acting like a freak again, the world is healing.” In the music video for “Abracadabra, which debuted during the Grammys, Gaga revived her Monster era with quirky choreography and ghostly glam. “She has risen from the ashes to save us all,” a fan wrote in response to the clip via Instagram.

It’s clear that Gaga is on a mission to bring back weirdness with Mayhem, and we’re so here for it. While she’s always championed the wild things in life, Mayhem feels nostalgic. As fans have pointed out, it’s reminiscent of the early days of her career, like when she wore a dress made entirely of raw beef to the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards or the Saturn-inspired Armani Privé frock she rocked at the 2010 Grammys a few months prior. Mayhem feels equally bold, but distinctly its own due in part to the dark and spooky themes.
