Kayleigh Trappe has already been labelled the favourite to win the new series of Dancing With The Stars.
According to Ladbrokes, the social media star is priced at 2/1 to win the show with dance partner Ervinas Merfeldas and take the glitterball home.
A former primary school teacher, Kayleigh has amassed a huge following of over 400,000 followers and millions of likes on TikTok and Instagram for her comedy sketch videos, in which she lip-syncs along perfectly to pop culture clips and iconic Irish celebrity moments.
Speaking about joining the show, she said: “I’m so excited. It feels so surreal, especially because I’m so used to just being behind the camera in the comfort of my own home, and now I’m going full glitz and glam.
“It’s a big change but I can’t wait to get the glitter ball rolling,” she added.
“This type of glam has never been a part of my life, but I have so much support from my family and friends at home in Monaghan. I can’t wait to be in the midst of it all now.”
Meanwhile, comedian Gearóid Farrelly is the second favourite to win at 4/1 as he competes with dance partner Stephen Vincent.
Gearóid will be part of a same-sex couple for the eighth series, saying: “As a young gay kid, if I had seen two men dancing together on the television, it would have been such a relief.”
Despite the show not having started yet, punters already have strong opinions on who they think will perform well.
Alex Apati, a spokesman for Ladbrokes, said: “The stars haven’t even set foot on the dance floor yet, but punters are backing TikTok sensation Trappe to take home the big prize.”
Dancing with the Stars returns to RTÉ One and RTÉ Player on Sunday January 5th at 6:30pm.
Safe to say, we will be watching!
