Iconic rock band Linkin Park is back, and they kicked off a new era in a very big way.
On Thursday (September 5), the band surprised fans with the release of a new single called “The Emptiness Machine” alongside the announcement of a new album, tour and lineup.
Seven years after the tragic death of Chester Bennington, his bandmates Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Phoenix and Joe Hahn reunited alongside new members Emily Armstrong (as co-vocalist) and Colin Brittain (on drums).
They shared a first taste of their forthcoming album From Zero and laid out plans for an epic comeback, which included a world tour that kicks off later this month!

In a statement, Mike reflected on the band’s reunion.
“Before LINKIN PARK, our first band name was Xero. This album title refers to both this humble beginning and the journey we’re currently undertaking. Sonically and emotionally, it is about past, present, and future—embracing our signature sound, but new and full of life,” he said. “It was made with a deep appreciation for our new and longtime bandmates, our friends, our family, and our fans. We are proud of what LINKIN PARK has become over the years, and excited about the journey ahead.”
Regarding his new bandmates, he said, “The more we worked with Emily and Colin, the more we enjoyed their world-class talents, their company, and the things we created. We feel really empowered with this new lineup and the vibrant and energized new music we’ve made together. We’re weaving together the sonic touchpoints we’ve been known for and still exploring new ones.”
The new era comes over a year after the band released a posthumous song featuring Chester‘s vocals. Listen here.
